第十讲　并列句和状语从句

1．(2020·全国卷Ⅲ·语法填空)________he asked the villagers on the banks of the river where he could find the legendary(传奇的)artist，they smiled and pointed down the river.

解析：考查连词。句意：当他问河岸上的村民，他在哪里可以找到这位传奇艺术家时，他们笑着指着河的下游。本句为时间状语从句，表示“当……时候”，且从句中动词asked为短暂性动作动词，不能用while引导，故应用when或as引导。句首单词首字母要大写。故填When/As。

答案：When/As

2．(2019·天津卷·单项选择改编)Tom is so independent that he never asks his parents' opinion________he wants their support.

解析：考查连词。句意：汤姆是如此独立，以至于他从来不征求父母的意见，除非他想得到他们的支持。

答案：unless

3．(2017·北京卷单项选择改编)If you don't understand something，you may research，study，and talk to other people________you figure it out.

解析：考查连词。句意：如果你无法理解某个东西，你可能会去研究，学习和他人探讨直到你解决为止。

4．(2016·全国卷Ⅲ·语法填空)Over time，________the population grew，people began cutting food into small pieces so it would cook more quickly.

解析：考查连词。句意：随着人口的增长，人们开始把食物切成小块，这样可以煮得快一点，这里是时间状语从句，when意为“当……时候”，故填as/when。

并列句与状语从句

1．并列的可以是单词、短语或分句

并列连词既可以连接并列的单词或短语，也可以连接并列的分句。语法填空无提示词的考查中，当两个或两个以上的单词、短语之间没有连词，一般是填并列连词。

[语法填空典例]　(2020·安徽 A10联盟阶段考试)It's not easy to change habits，________with awareness and self­control，it is possible.

分析：句意：改变习惯不容易，但是如果有(改变的)意识和自控力还是可能的。题干前后两个分句存在意思上的转折，所以填 but或yet。

2．分句关系辨析

并列句是连词连接两个“互不依存的主谓结构”，两句之间是并列关系；而在状语从句或定语从句的前后两个句子中，一个为主句，一个为从句，从句处于“依附”地位，起修饰主句的作用。

[语法填空典例]

①________you take the medicine，you will be all right.

②Take this medicine，________you will be all right.

分析：两个题都应该填连词。句①空处引导条件状语从句表示“如果”，因此填If；句②中两个并列分句是顺承关系，故填and。

Ⅰ.单句语法填空(用适当的连词填空)
