在许多场合是可以互换的，如：

I’m learning/studying to skate.

我正在学习滑冰。

He’s learning/studying French now.

他在学习法语。

但是它们是有差别的：

1.意义不同：learn强调的是获得知识，内容或信息等结果，study强调的是学习、研究等行为的举动或过程。

I learned a lot from my father.

我从父亲那里学到了许多东西。

You'd better learn a trade while you are young.

你最好趁年轻学一门手艺。

I like to study in the library. 我喜欢在图书馆学习。

Reading for pleasure and reading for study are not the same.

读书以自娱和读书以学习是不相同的。

She studied hard finally learned the lesson.

她努力学习，终于把这一课学会了。

He studied hard and finally learned the language.

他努力学习，终于学会了这种语言。

2.侧重点不同：study是学习，研究的意思。是延续性动词。learn是学会，弄懂的意思。是瞬间动词。Learn还有：听到；得知；获悉

l never learned his name.我从未听说过他的名字。（知悉）

She studied chemistry for three years.

她学了三年化学。

Most students face the problem of funding themselves while they are studying.

大多数学生在求学期间都会面临经济来源的问题。

I learnt of her arrival from a close friend.

我从一位好友那里听说她到了。

We were very surprised to learn (that) she had got married again.

我们听说她又结婚了，感到很惊讶。

Physicists are now studying cosmic rays.

物理学家正在研究宇宙射线。

3.用法不同：learn 多用于学习的初级阶段或带有模仿性的操作技艺等；而 study 则常用于较高深或周密的研究。

The child is learning to walk.

那孩子在学走路。

He's learning to dance.

他在学跳舞。

She’s at university studying law.

她在大学学习法律。

My brother studied at the Royal College of Art.

我哥哥曾就学于皇家美术学院。

We will study the report carefully before making a decision.

我们将认真研究这份报告，然后再作决定。

The report studies the organization of labour within the company.

这个报告研究了公司内部的人力分配问题。

Fran was studying the menu.

Scientists are studying photographs of the planet for signs of life.

I know that you've been studying chimpanzees for thirty years now...

You should study this document with the utmost care.

The conference stimulated him to study the subject in more depth.

4.learn from，表示“向/从……学习”。

We must learn from each other. 我们必须互相学习。

You can learn a great deal just from watching other players.

你只要注意看其他运动员怎样动作就能学到许多东西。

I'm sure she'll learn from her mistakes.

我肯定她会从错误中吸取教训。

He collected information, studied it, did experiments and learnt from the experiences of farmers.

他收集资料、加以研究、进行试验，并向农民学习取经。
